Wood & Wire bring their Austin influenced bluegrass to Portland

By SCOTT CUNNINGHAM // Band plays White Eagle Saloon Wednesday evening

Wood & Wire is probably best characterized as a bluegrass band, but their approach to their music adds a much broader perspective to the sound of this Austin based band. They appear at the White Eagle Saloon in Portland Wednesday evening.

The four-piece is comprised of Tony Kamel (lead vocals, guitar), Dom Fisher (bass), Tervor Smith (banjo), and Billy Bright (mandolin). Smith may very well be the world's only classical pianist turned banjo player.

Last year's release "Live at the Historic Scoot Inn" does an excellent job capturing the vibe of the band in a live setting and showcases their tight harmonies and playing.

ON TOUR: Wood & Wire appears at the White Eagle Saloon in Portland on Wednesday, July 26, 2017. Showtime is 8:00PM for the 21 and over event. Tickets are $10 in advance and are available now.
