Every 2nd Wed at Alberta St Pub we record 5 NW Indie Artists performing a 30 minute concert for airing on the Local Roots Radio show heard every Sunday night from 7 pm to 9 pm on KMUZ-FM 100.7 in Salem and streaming live online everywhere at KMUZ.org. The first 90 minutes of the radio show are devoted to playing all original recently released NW Indie music and the last half hour is when we air the live recorded concerts.

To date we have recorded more than 130 concerts since our beginning several years ago. The artists that have performed have included Annalisa Tornfelt, Lewi Longmire and the Left Coasters, Redray Frazier, Ashleigh Flynn, Karyn Ann, Ara Lee, Kathryn Claire, Metts, Ryan and Collins, The Get Ahead, Haley Johnsen (upcoming in Mar) and more than a hundred other established and up and coming NW artists. The genres as well vary from rock to country to singer/songwriters. Nearly every concert is standing room only.

It has been called by the musicians who perform one of the best Indie Music Showcases anywhere. The live recording and appreciative audience makes for a unique experience for everyone. The recordings have been stellar and many of the artists have used the recordings on CD's and other links.

The cost has always been just $5 to get in. It always starts around 7 pm. In addition many of the best sidemen in Portland have performed at the series. Read more about our concerts at www.facebook.com/localrootsmusicnw

The series is run by volunteers who do everything from selling merch to working the door to the emcee. It is a music community event that continues to grow and entertain every month.

"Years before occupiers arrived making it an international media headline, The Malheur Wildlife Refuge was home year round to all manner of animals and birds. Portland Cello Project's own Skip vonKuske created an original soundtrack to this film, documenting a year at the refuge, and will perform it live during the premiere screening at Alberta Rose Theatre on February 21st 7 PM. A portion of ticket sales benefit educational programs of The Malheur Field Station."

HI.
I just submitted the Liza! Liza! Liza! calendar listing, but it would not allow me to put in our website. Can you do that for us?

www.trianglepro.org

It said it wasn't a valid website...but we use it everyday.

Thanks!

Rock the Village: Rich Layton & The Troublemakers with special guest Jon Koonce

Friday, March 3, 7:00pm
O’Connor’s Vault
7850 S.W. Capitol Hwy.
Tickets: http://troublemakersmarch3.brownpapertickets.com

Matt Miner Presents and O’Connor’s Vault welcome roots rockers Rich Layton & The Troublemakers with special guest Jon Koonce to the heart of Multnomah Village, Friday, March 3 at 7:00pm.
Both Rich and Jon are dedicated "keepers of the flame" for American roots music. When they join forces, the fuse is lit for a night of high octane swamp rock, country, rockabilly and the honky tonk blues!

Rich Layton & The Troublemakers echo the sound of an East Texas roadhouse. With comparisons to such artists as Marty Stuart, Dave Alvin and JD McPherson, the band’s live shows take audiences for a ride from Sun Studios to Chess Records, and Muscle Shoals to Bakersfield. Rich's original songs thread seamlessly into the mix, weaving his Gulf Coast roots through tales of rock and roll redemption, harmonica-fueled and swampified.

Together a decade now, the band has released two albums, and performs at festivals and events throughout the NW, including the Safeway Waterfront Blues Festival. Each summer, Rich joins Lyle Lovett as a special guest when The Large Band comes to town. Rich also has played on Portland tour stops by his friends Lucinda Williams, Dale Watson and the late Buckwheat Zydeco.

Jon Koonce is an Oregon Music Hall of Fame member for his early work with Johnny and the Distractions, and has just released his 13th album, The Lost Cause. Since the seventies Jon has built parallel careers fronting rock bands and singing his own songs solo on acoustic stages across the country. His gritty blue-collar approach to rock carries over in his solo work with strong unabashed statements about right, wrong, truth and justice, supported by clean, clear energetic guitar work.

On Sunday, June 24th at 4 PM, join Resonance Ensemble for BODIES, as they celebrate gender identities, sexualities, and the LGBTQIA community’s work toward civil rights and understanding. This concert is in partnership with Pride Northwest and is an official Pride NW event. (For more info on this partnership check HERE for the official announcement)

Resonance Ensemble’s 2017-18 season is inspired by the events of this time of intense political and social upheaval, and aims to reflect the world we want to see: people coming together to gain new perspectives, and to be moved by our shared humanity. This inspiration merges beautifully with the mission of Pride Northwest - an organization dedicated to encouraging and supporting positive diversity, and educating all people by developing activities that showcase the history, accomplishments and talents of the LGBTQIA community.

BODIES features compositions and performances by LGBTQIA artists, including a selection from Craig Hella Johnson’s Considering Matthew Shepard; Dominick DiOrio’s The Visible World, a work about marriage equality from diverse historical perspectives; and a selection from composer Laura Kaminsky’s work As One, written for mezzo-soprano (Beth Madsen Bradford) and baritone (Damien Geter), which depicts the experiences of its sole transgender protagonist, Hannah, as she endeavors to resolve the discord between herself and the outside world.

Other special guests include:

Stephen Marc Beaudoin (Executive Director of Maryland Symphony and long-time Resonance Ensemble member), singing pieces by gay composers on the theme of PRETTY
Portland writer and Resonance Poet in Residence, S. Renee Mitchell, performing an original work written for BODIES
Vakare Petroliunaite, singing a poignant arrangement of Harold Arlen's Somewhere Over the Rainbow
Debra Porta, Executive Director of Pride Northwest
Portland's beloved pianist David Saffert

RESONANCE ENSEMBLE presents INTENSIVE CARE
Sunday, June 9th, 2019 | 4:00 p.m.
Cerimon House 5131 NE 23rd Avenue, Portland

http://www.resonancechoral.org/intensivecare

INTENSIVE CARE tackles a situation many face. One in 100 babies is born with a congenital heart defect. For this concert, we reflect on all whose early days of parenthood are different than envisioned-with babies born early, babies sick, babies lost. Often invisible stories, they are also stories mixed with hope and transformational love.

In this concert, we give the West Coast premiere of Stephen Caldwell’s Pre-existing Condition, composed to honor his own son’s birth with a congenital heart defect. Caldwell sets original texts about his experience, as well as tender poetry by ee cummings.

The concert also marks the release of our debut album, LISTEN, including the world premiere recordings of Melissa Dunphy’s LISTEN, setting the courageous Senate testimony of Anita Hill and Christine Blasey Ford, and of Renee Favand-See’s deeply personal Only in Falling, setting poems of Wendell Berry in memory of her beloved infant son Owen.

COST:
$30 GENERAL ADMISSION
$25 SENIOR
$15 STUDENT/ARTIST
$5 ARTS FOR ALL
