The confusing state of Oregon music

This is not a guide to how you can enjoy going out and hearing music but there are some suggestions.

Some venues have cancelled/postponed things. Some require masks and/or proof of vaccination. Some require neither.

Confusing huh?

Bob Howard of Artichoke music sent an email yesterday to performers who had been scheduled for gigs there. It said:

It is with a heavy heart that Artichoke has decided to suspend live performances indefinitely.  We hope to have you play for our audience as soon as possible.

The highly contagious Delta Variant is spreading rapidly, a mask mandate has been put in place for Multnomah County, and the CDC and OHA are cautioning against large indoor gatherings.  At this time, gathering travelers together in a small space is not in the best interest of our patrons or our performers

And that included a three day festival at the end of the month.

What can a music consumer do?

It requires a little work on your part to inform yourself about what you'll find and what the venue is calling for if you want to venture out to hear live music.

Some venues and artists are diligent about letting you know their requirements. Some don't tell you a thing.

Welcome to summer 2021.
