Lucius at the Aladdin Theater on 9/11/18 Photos

By BRENT ANGELO //

Lucius just kicked off their Nudes tour here in Portland at the Aladdin Theater. The group features lead vocalists Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig, who have a unique way in how they perform. The two sing face to face sharing one microphone between them. The visual of the two of them standing there and singing to each other makes for cool imagery, but it’s their voices that really define them and leave you in awe.

Their combined voices blend so well and truly become one. There really is a special connection between these two ladies. Lucius are currently touring in support of their new album, Nudes. The album is a stripped-down collection of new, reimagined tracks and covers. The first show at the Aladdin had highlights that included their opener “Woman”, which spotlights their powerful voices. There was an emotional and touching cover in their encore. Lucius paid tribute to Richard Swift by playing his song “Most of What I Know”. The power in their voices were heightened by the pain and loss in their heart. This stripped down, intimate performance was a great fit for the Aladdin Theater and made for a truly special night of music in which fans heard these two voices fill that room sweetly together as one.
