J.I.D. and Smino’s co-headlining “Luv Is 4 Ever Tour” made a stop in Portland, Oregon selling out Roseland Theater. Both artists’ complimentary styles kept the crowd’s energy high and engaged the entire night. The tour was opened by Swavey, an artist from Atlanta, Georgia. His lyrics and cadence hit just as hard as the beats which were intensified by strobe lighting. Jordan Ward came out halfway through the set to help interact with the crowd.

Galaxy, the opening track from J.I.D. 's latest album “The Forever Story,” played as fog filled the stage. An infinity heart-shaped LED screen was used for both artists and would show graphics and occasionally live feed from the camera on the side of the stage. J.I.D. emerged from the fog and began with, 2007. The entire set felt balanced not only with the mix of songs from different albums but also going from hyped-up songs like Off Deez and 151 Rum from “Dicaprio 2,” which made the crowd sometimes look like the start of a mosh pit; transitioning to more vibey songs having the crowd swaying their arms back and forth to the likes of Kody Blu 31 and Bruddanem. Early on, J.I.D. admitted that he felt a little nervous and would go to the back of the stage but that faded away as the night went on. He also showed appreciation to the crowd throughout the night and ended his set with a bang, standing on the barricade and bouncing with the crowd to Stick.

A background singer came on the stage to sing a few bars, engaging with the crowd as Smino snuck on stage. His set began with the song KLINK from his album, “NOIR.” He was joined on stage by a band that supported the jazzy instrumentals to his songs. Smino’s set also was well balanced with upbeat hits to more slowed-down jams. Smino squeezed in a shout-out to Portland in the song Matinee before engaging with the crowd, starting a friendly competition of which side of the building could be louder. Smino stopped to take a sip of water and fans started chanting his name as if it were the encore. He had the fans dancing the rest of the night with a mix of songs from Netflix & Dusse to Z4L.
