Glenn Holstrom terminally ill: Benefit gig Wednesday at No Vacancy Lounge

By SCOTT CUNNINGHAM // Beloved Portland musician has been battling cancer for several years.

Beloved Portland musician Glenn Holstrom announced last week that he has terminal cancer and has decided to cease treatment. Holstrom has been battling cancer since 2011 and doctors recently discovered a new inoperable tumor in his back.

A benefit concert will be held in his honor at No Vacancy Lounge in Portland this Wednesday, Sept. 5. Music kicks off at 8:00PM. King Louie and LaRhonda Steele will get the evening started with a short set before welcoming a wide variety of Portland musicians to the stage including Bobby Torres, Norman Sylvester, Mel Brown, Tom Grant, and Soul Vaccination.

All proceeds from the event will to the the Glenn Holstrom Memorial Fund. For those who can't attend, donations can be made at any US Bank location and asking for funds to be deposited to the For the Love of Glenn Memorial. Additionally, Tracy Turner Pain has set up a GoFund Me account in conjunction with Bobby Torres to help defray medical costs for Glenn and his wife Lynn.

"Our goal is to give him (Glenn) a classy sendoff," Pain says.

Tickets for Wednesday's event can be purchased in advance through Eventbrite.
