Die Sexual, July 18th at Star Theater - Preview

By MATT HANSEN // LA dark electronic duo will open for Matte Blvck at Star Theater on the Holy Wars Tour

Ever heard of the dark room in a dance club? You won’t find any here in Oregon, but in Berlin, Germany they are pretty common. These rooms are designed for discreet sexual activity, for those preferring to be anonymous and casual. Being that the dark room is a separate environment from the dance floor but is still housed within the dance space, it calls for its own soundtrack.

Los Angeles’ Die Sexual is music for those dark rooms, with sultry lyrics and imagery filled with shadowed corners and dim red lighting. They don’t just visualize dark rooms with their sound, they control them. And while there are several bands that take on the German word for ‘the’ in their name by using ‘die’ instead (Die Form, Die Robot) only Die Sexual seem to actually embody the dark room atmosphere you would find in a German club like Berghain.

As a musical duo and couple, Rosselinni Floriano (vocals) and Anton Floriano (electronics) seem chained together by their lust for dark dance music, but this is no captivity that they aren’t happy with. Rosselinni oozes a play by play of unabashed sexuality, and Anton sequences industrial synths and pulsing bass. On their new single “Magic Never Dies” the title and lyrics are more of a statement about their musical chemistry rather than just the Floriano’s sexual intimacy. And that magic is sure to be present when Die Sexual play Star Theatre on Friday July 18th in support of headliners Matte Blvck.

Also on the bill are locals Ceremony Shadows, who released the new album Ascension this past March. If you won’t be attending the Goth Bike Ride happening the same night, then you have no excuse to not be at this show. Brave the heat for this one and wear black.

ON TOUR: MATTE BLVCK / DIE SEXUAL / CEREMONY SHADOWS at Star Theater on Friday, July 18th, 2025. Doors 8:00PM / Show 9:00PM / (Tickets) 21+ Show
