CRIMEWAVE: A Darkwave Party at Holocene, Aug. 28th - Preview

By MATT HANSEN // Dance party celebrating the darker side of dance music will be at Holocene next Thursday 

Already hardware stores have started to stock life-size skeleton lawn ornaments and animatronic ghouls in anticipation of Halloween. And depending on how you interpret the calendar, you may be celebrating spooky season already and in need a place to dance. Merging the goth and electronic sounds of the 80s with current dark dance sounds for your celebrating purposes, CRIMEWAVE: A DARKWAVE PARTY will take over Holocene next Thursday Aug. 28th .

Aside from ugly sweater winter, spooky season is the most acceptable time during the year to dress up, and strut those monochromatic outfits that display your love of dark music. Dawn your black garb and sway to tunes at CRIMEWAVE provided by local DJs, Sanrosada, DJ Sappho, and DJ Susan Saranwrap.

“Crime Wave is an awesome opportunity to play all my darkwave, industrial, cold wave, and electronic dance records, and it’s always so fun playing at Holocene,” gushes Susan Saranwrap, “And I get to play with SANRO & Sappho, what a treat! Their sets are not to be missed!” Saranwrap recently started their own radio show on Freeform Portland called “Reason to Groove” and on the August 19^th show did a nice preview of what you will be hearing during their set at CRIMEWAVE.

At the time of writing this, Thursday August 28^th may be the first day in almost a week that doesn’t reach 90°F in Portland. So drop the heatwave and get ready for CRIMEWAVE @ Holocene.
