Bonginator, November 24th at High Limit Room – Preview

The unstoppable blunt-ripping killdozers of death metal, Bonginator, will be hot-boxing Portland’s High Limit Room on November 24^th with their infectious onslaught of buck nasty breakdowns and two-steppin’ blast beats to promote their sophomore album, Retrodeath.

More a love letter to 80s film (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, They Live, Robocop, etc.) than the cannabis heavy, The Intergalactic Gorebong of Death Pot, Retrodeath leans heavy on its references with an earnest glee that never detracts from the insane musicianship apparent on the album. Centerpiece track, “The Fog,” drives home the unholy marriage that the album’s title boasts with a thunderous horse-stomping guitar set to a sinister synth melody – and the best part is it isn’t even about Carpenter’s film, but the foggy, malignant town of Silent Hill.

The growth on this record is immense, but this is Bonginator, and they’re still out here getting silly with it. “Short Ass Bus” is such a face-melter that not even serious metal acts can compete with how hot and heavy this beast goes, paired with guest vocalists Abel Abarca (Big Ass Truck I.E.) and Colin Richardson (Ignominious), it is without question one of the best headbangers of 2025.

Joining Bonginator on the bill are No/Más, Teardown, Disease, and Gutbath, so be sure to smoke ‘em while you got ‘em and bring a neck brace, you’re gonna need it.
