Jackson Philips, the much buzzed about Oakland-based vocalist and multi-instrumentalist who performs as Day Wave, brings his captivating dream-pop to Portland, tonight, Friday, April 29that Mississippi Studios.
If you caught Wild Nothing this week, and were left wanting more (or worse, if you missed it!), you need to catch this show. Day Wave topped my personal list of breakout artists in 2015, in large part because of the ethereal vocals, celestial guitar, subtle synth and a musical persona this Berklee College of Music grad says is “inspired by a healthy dose of The Beach Boys, Joy Division and New Order.”
His second EP, Hard To Read released on March 4th is available digitally. A combined physical release package with last year’s critically acclaimed EP Headcase is scheduled.
See Day Wave perform with Portland-based, electro-pop band Warm Hands, Friday, April 29th. Doors 8:00 pm/Show 9:00 pm. 21+ Tickets $12 Adv/$14 Day of Show.
