Volvox & Aurora Halal, Nov. 5th at Holocene - Preview

If you’re familiar with Portland’s Holocene, you know that it’s design is inspired by the appeal of Berlin warehouse clubs. Places where the techno plays past dawn, and the LGBTQ+ friendly vibe is second nature. Soon to be bringing this same mix of safe space and cutting edge DJs is the SWITCH dance party coming to Holocene November 5^th.

Historically a house music, drag and fetish party, Portland’s SWITCH is now elevating their events to the level of international techno names. Headlining Nov. 5th will be VOLVOX, known for playing Berlin’s, if not the world’s most prized and exclusive club, Berghain. Volvox will be just one of three female DJs performing that night, also on the bill will be Aurora Halal and Portland’s own DJ ScS. Aurora Halal- who is also known for playing Berghain - is the creator of NY’s exclusive Sustain and Release festival which VOLVOX has also been featured on more than once. Rounding out the night will be DJ ScS, SWITCH’s newest resident DJ and member of Portland’s UwU Collective.

So put away those passports, and kick your suitcases back into the closet because SWITCH is bringing Berlin to you. This a rare occasion where not only are you seeing a lot of top talent who don’t typically stop in Portland, but also at a venue charged with the aesthetic of Berlin’s inclusive dance culture. Community tickets are available for those who may lack the funds to attend the event, prioritized for Trans & BIPOC individuals.
