When the Black Crowes hit the music scene, the music world embraced them and they also got critical acclaim. Their blend of rock was fueled by strong songwriting and great live shows. Behind the scenes, a battle was waging between the brothers, Chris and Rich Robinson. It’s sad to see family have issues and in this case have the guys go their separate ways. The music world would then lose a truly great band.

Rich Robinson (guitar and vocals) would go on to pursue a solo career. In that time, he would reunite with former Black Crowes lead guitarist Marc Ford at a 2016 show. From those successful shows, a new band was born. The Magpie Salute started officially early this year and their music pays respects to their past successes, their music heroes, but they also show there is new music to come. Their first cd release is a collection of live covers that shows their musical influences.

There is also a new, original that leads off the disc called “Omission”. In concert, these songs sounded strong. With Rich’s soulful playing, Marc Ford’s fiery leads, and John Hogg’s powerful vocals, this is a band going places. Check out their self-titled release if you are looking for rock n roll played from the heart.
