PDX Spotlight at NAMM 2019 - Gibson NAMM Jam at the Grove in Anaheim 01/24/19

By BRENT ANGELO // National Association of Music Manufacturers show in Anaheim featured a Gibson comeback.

Gibson has always been a top company in the music business. The products they manufacture are played and trusted by the very best in the business. Gibson is one of the world's most respected instrument companies. However in recent years, Gibson fell on hard times and the music world watched holding their breath thinking the company's future was in jeopardy.

Their absence at last years National Association of Music Manufacturers only made the worry even worse. After some restructuring and with the direction of their new CEO, James "JC" Curleigh, things are looking promising as the company plans to restore their former glory. Gibson returned to this year's NAMM show and put on a very special NAMM Jam after party.

To kick off the show in Anaheim, California, CEO "JC" first delivered a very from the heart speech about the companies recent struggles. He did not sugar coat things or hide from the truth, but was truthful and sincere. His words showed he truly cares for this company and wants Gibson back at the forefront. Artist on the bill included fourteen year old @Toby Lee, Jared James Nichols, Cam, Emily Wolfe, Black Pistol Fire, Robby Krieger, Nancy Wilson, Peter Frampton and Billy Gibbons. Seeing legends like Billy Gibbons and Peter Frampton jam together on the ZZ Top classic, "La Grange" was a rare treat. In the end new up and comers shared the stage with some of rocks best all in support for the Gibson. This NAMM show proved Gibson is truly back and in force.
