The Klezmatics, Alberta Rose Theater, Dec. 21, 2022 Photos

The Klezmatics, a nearly forty-year old group, has brought Klezmer around the world and into current American musical discourse.

They play closer to traditional klezmer than to modern jazz, but incorporate both Jazz and Folk elements into their performances. They sing in both Yiddish and English and are at least partly responsible for the recurrent revival of Yiddish culture. This is their 2022 Hanukah tour on the west coast.

The current iteration of the band is: Richie Barshay on drums, Matt Darau on saxophone and clarinet, Lisa Gutkin on violin, Frank Landau on trumpet, Paul Morrissett on bass, and Lorin Sklamberg, the lead vocalist on accordion. Sklamberg, Morrissett, and London are original band members.
