By TOM D'ANTONI // Child psychiatrist Diane Kaufman, also a poet and artist, has a suicide prevention song for those struggling with those issues.
With me in the Café at Artichoke Music is child psychiatrist, poet and artist Dr. Diane Kaufman. She’s here to talk about the release of her suicide prevention song 'Don't Give Up' which is designed to give support to those who are struggling with mental health issues and thinking about suicide.
In case you were not aware suicide is the leading cause of death among youth 10-24 in Oregon.
So here’s an interesting role that music may play in bringing those stats down.
Diane Kaufman is founder of Oregon-based Arts Medicine for Hope and Healing and the Arts & Healing Resiliency Center at Mind Matters P.C.
We’re starting out differently this time, I’ll let you hear the song first and then we’ll talk with the Doctor.
.
Thank you Diane for your work with suicide prevention. So many of us struggle with mental health and it is comforting to know you aren’t the only one. I love the song!

So very relevant and impactful, at this time especially. Dr. Kaufman is such a brave leader in this endeavor. All involved in this project truly are. Thank you for sharing with all and let's all remain in close connection (as a community) as our mental and overall holistic health is in the balance.
