Glōm Fest: Sept. 19th @ Star Theater / Preview

By MATT HANSEN // New West Coast goth festival has origins in Oregon, and promises a 'Global Goth' experience at Star Theater on Sept. 19th with international artists on the line up 

Glōm Fest is the new goth festival coming to Portland this month, just in time for spooky season. With an impressive international line up including: The Cemetary Girlz (France), Aeon Sable (Germany), and The Royal Ritual (U.K.), Glōm is sure to make an impact on the festival circuit as it delivers an experience similar to events like Verboden or Cruel World over four tour stops on the West Coast.

But few Oregonians may know that Glōm Fest was actually started by a local Portlander. "This festival is my baby," states Christine Buckley of Original Strawberry Girl Presents, the name of her promotional company coming from none other than Siouxsie and the Banshees. "It all started with the friendship I developed with Nino Sable of Aeon Sable; I was over in Germany and we got to talking about them playing in America," Buckley explains "I have always been one to share my favorite bands, and I thought the festival would be an opportunity to introduce some cool bands to audiences who may never have gotten to see them without going to Europe." 

Glōm Fest will be at Star Theater on Friday Sept. 19th, also on the bill is Seattle's Dark Chisme, The Awakening, and special guests Oakland's Yama Uba. Come support this homegrown music festival as it bridges the gap of dark music between the U.S. and Europe for one night only.
