Fox and Bones brought out their friends and a full house at Mississippi Studios to celebrate the release their fourth full length album since 2016, Long Time Honey. The record is, hard-nosed optimism, stick it out grit, years on the road, determined to make a mark. Together with Scott's gritty, raspy voice and Sarah's passionate lyricism, they ride a dream, they live by the words of the last track on the record, "Don't Do Nothing" - "if you don't do nothing, nothing's gonna come to you."
The record opens with "All on Red". For almost ten years, they have put everything on the line. They live with the optimism that they are on the right road, and they keep on their journey. It's all or nothing.
Sarah says "the record comes from the whole journey of emotions you experience with being in a creative environment, atmosphere, and career. You have to explore your successes and setbacks in a life of music. You also have to be able to feel the despair of being away from your family and friends nine months out of the year in pursuit of a dream." "I would add that Scott is really good at being optimistic while I am a little more of a realist. So, in that sense, the hard-nosed optimism in our music comes from a combination of our two personal ideologies." The combination of the two says keep your eyes open and go for it.
The record was produced, and the music was co-written with Greg Holden. The music was a team effort. Scott says,"we wrote these songs as a trio under Greg’s sometimes brash but always appropriate guidance." Greg said he was inspired working with Fox and Bones "I have never worked with a band that work as hard them. Their dedication to their careers is inspiring and I really have a great deal of respect for them both as humans. They’re both super talented and I hope this record helps get them where they want to be. I’m excited to work with them again in the future." Scott says that the collaboration went deep, even to the pedals he uses on his guitar. It sounds like there's more coming from this collaboration.
Fox and Bones filled the stage at Mississippi Studios with friends. The back line was The Quick & Easy Boys (Sean Badders, Jimmy Russell and Shook Black). Long-time friend and bandmate Peter Marcott (Just People). Guests Acoustic Minds, (Jenni and Amanda Price), Greg Holden, Haley Johnsen, Mia Keeler, Jacob Westfall appeared throughout the night. The opening act was Reb & the Good News.
