By ALISON WEBSTER // Whatever your hang ups are on which “original” members are still in the band or not, what really matters is that the legacy of Foreigner continues for future generations to enjoy and to never forget these memorable, nostalgic melodies.
I took my DeLorean on a road trip to the desert in California, speeding up to 88MPH out of Portland, Oregon and ending up in the 1970’s and ‘80s, where I got to see legendary hits from Foreigner and my fellow Canadians, Loverboy, for the “Very First Time.”
“The Kid Was Hot Tonight” when Loverboy came out into the sun, still blazing down on us. Mike Reno walked out with his signature headband, rocking out to hits “Turn Me Loose”, “Workin’ For The Weekend" & their Top Gun movie single “Heaven In Your Eyes.” Remember that one?
Whether or not you think that Foreigner is playing “Head Games”, vocalist Kelly Hanson and the rest of the crew’s “Hot Blooded” energy and passion is felt throughout their set. They all know how to work the crowd, with each musician showing off their solo chops. Keyboardist Michael Bluestein was wailing like banshee on his sick keytar solo.
I have been a fan of Jeff Pilson since his days in Dokken & Dio, and he is still kickin’ ass! Jeff has been singing backup harmonies and playing bass guitar and keyboards in Foreigner since 2004.
