Andre Williams, dead at 82 / The Wild Man of Soul

By TOM D'ANTONI // He made you dance, he made you laugh, he embarrassed your sensibilities. He was a singular musical personality.

Andre Williams had a life and much of it was awful. But he never gave up and was still working until he was recently diagnosed with cancer and passed away at 82 on Sunday, March 17.

In many respects, his life was harrowing. In others, a triumph. Sometimes both at the same time.

Here is his Wiki page. It may or may not be true. One never knew with Mr. Williams.

Nobody wrote songs or "sang" them like Andre Williams. He almost never really "sang." He talked his lyrics, and we loved them.

Here's my favorite Andre Williams tune (although it was very very difficult to choose from his long list of completely unique songs).
