Triple Lutz "Don't Wake Daddy" / OMN Featured Video

Hardcore punk band Triple Lutz premiere a new video which is but one part of a short film to compliment their debut LP In the Hands of an Angry Mob

If you've ever seen Walter Hill's 1979 film The Warriors, you know of its portrayal of futuristic street gangs spread across the New York City underground. And now almost 50 years later, in a future Hill could not have foreseen, Portland's Triple Lutz have taken up this same aesthetic to condemn religious hypocrisy in the new video "Don't Wake Daddy." The video begins similarly to the iconic opening sequence to The Warriors with atmospheric synth, public transit, and the introduction to a heroic gang converging on a suspicious gathering.

Armed with only their wits and fists, Triple Lutz accepts some verbal barbs from a rival gang before entering a punk house show where a band of their doppelgangers are the main act. "Don't Wake Daddy" is a fresh and inventive take on a highly influential film that is energized by a heretical message and eagerness to confront the powers that be. With a loud warning of what is to come for those that manipulate religion for their own bigoted purposes.

The music video was filmed by Cai Indermaur, directed by Asher Weinbaum, and edited by Cai Indermaur & Asher Weinbaum & Triple Lutz and features guest appearances by other Portland bands like Altar Girl, Chained Heat, and The Wild Jumps.

"Don't Wake Daddy" is a segment of the upcoming short film which will be released in tandem with their upcoming debut LP In the Hands of an Angry Mob on June 5th at Blackwater Bar.
