SEAL & The Buggles at Keller Auditorium 6/10/2023 / Photos and review

By ALISON WEBSTER // SEAL melts hearts with a kiss.

Romance was in the air when British sultry, crooner, Seal Henry Olusegun Olumide Adeola Samuel graced us with his lovely presence, at the Keller Auditorium in Portland, OR. for his 30th Anniversary World Tour. He brought The Buggles with him, starring Trevor Horn, who has produced SEAL throughout the years.

The English New Wave band, The Buggles, starring Trevor Horn, who was also a member of the band YES, opened for SEAL. The entire Buggles band also played with SEAL, pulling an impressive double duty. They gave a phenomenal performance with “Owner Of A Lonely Heart” & the first video that MTV ever played back in 1981 was “Video Killed The Radio Star.”
(But, in reality, Reality TV Killed Music Television).

SEAL’s performance was mesmerizing & soothing, like he was singing us lullabies that didn’t make us fall asleep. He had the women melting & their men holding on to them tightly as they swayed to his long time hits like “Crazy” & “Don’t Cry”.
The crowd got hotter when SEAL sauntered out into the audience, onto chairs, to belt out his classics, “Killer” & “Kiss From A Rose” from the Batman Forever soundtrack. In 1996, Seal won three GRAMMY wins for Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance at the 38th GRAMMY Awards. SEAL has a charismatic charming way that he connects with the audience.
This was a magical night with SEAL & The Buggles.
