Portland Opera presents 'Opera to Go' with "Shizue: An American Story"". This is a short one-act opera by Composer Kenji Oh and Librettist Dmae Lo Roberts, based on the true story of Shizue Iwatsuki. She was a Japanese woman who, with her husband, wound up interned in the detention camps set up by the government during World War II.
There are three performances at Brunish Theater, October 4 and 5, but all are sold out.
