His latest release, four-song EP, Ravana, came out in April. But with the Coronavirus pandemic at its peak, Perez had to waylay his US tour plans that included a stop in Stumptown. He found himself quarantined alongside fellow collaborator, Alexander Dennis (better known as EPROM), a Portland-based, bass music, DJ/producer, whose sounds take listeners through an acid bass-filled journey. Together these DJs collaborate on a project called SHADES.
The duo originally met while making beats for Foreign Beggars in 2013, and later began a Red Bull sponsored project in LA. They started SHADES as a creative outlet for lower bpm sounds in the left field bass scene. Their original sounds have been changing the bass scene on the West Coast, and fans are eager to hear the new music resulting from their extended time in EPROM’s Portland studio.
