If you think back to 2001, "Everywhere" was probably in the background somewhere in your memories. You can’t escape it, but not in a bad way. It was just…everywhere. With the recent runs of many pop punk bands of that era, it was time for the pop women to make their mark on the generation that now has the means and the yearning for nostalgia of a simpler time. Michelle Branch delivered that in Portland, Oregon, at the Crystal Ballroom for her Everywhere and Back Again tour.
SASAMi opened the night. Mostly seen as a silhouette, Sasami played a rock set with an opposing but complementary soft voice. Later in her set, she brought out her French horn, which got the crowd's attention for "Nothing But A Sad Face On".
Michelle brought a calm and familiar presence to the stage. She opened with "Drop in the Ocean". The Crystal show was her second show of the tour. Many of her most popular songs followed, including a cover of Lisa Loeb's " I " into an accapella "2 Become 1" by the Spice Girls. Sprinkled in were some not-as-well-known songs, including a new one, "Last Chance This Summer". The show came to a crescendo, bringing everyone together with a sing-along of "All You Wanted" and ending with "Everything".
