Gayle Skidmore is currently working on releasing her new piano album, Hiraethean Echoes, recorded at the legendary Wisseloord Studios in The Netherlands. She won "De Beste Singer-Songwriter van het Groene Hart," and was awarded free studio time in Wisseloord, where she recorded with Fieke van den Hurk. Hiraethean Echoes features nostalgic piano pieces that encapsulate a longing for home, reflective of Skidmore's time as an expat in The Netherlands. Gayle Skidmore discovered the word "Hiraeth" while researching her Welsh heritage during the lockdown in 2020. She was struck by its poignant meaning: a homesickness for a home that you can't return to or that never was.
Having written over 2500 songs since she began songwriting at the age of 8, classically trained pianist Gayle Skidmore has had the chance to play over 20 other instruments on her many independent albums. Nominated for 7 San Diego Music Awards, Skidmore's natural ability and innate passion for music made her music career inevitable, and her tumultuous life has given her plenty of inspiration for her enchanting indie-folk pop style. Her full-length albums come with self-illustrated coloring books which highlight her thoughtful lyrics.
