By SCOTT CUNNINGHAM // Joined by Andy Stokes and the Untied By Music North America Band
Halloween serves up a bonus treat this year as Bobby Rush comes to town to play at the Lake Theater & Cafe in Lake Oswego Monday night. He'll be joined by Portland artist Andy Stokes and the United By Music North America Band.
Rush is one of the last surviving true blues legends, having earned three Grammy nominations and ten Blues Music Awards over the course of his 60-year recording career. In 2006, he was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame.
The 82 year-old Rush hasn't let age slow him down at all, either. In September, he released his latest album, "Porcupine Meat" on Rounder Records. The album includes guest appearances by A-listers Dave Alvin, Joe Bonamassa, Keb' Mo', and Vasti Jackson.
Stokes, of course, is one of Portland's premiere R&B artists focusing on power soul ballads and upbeat funk.
ON TOUR: Bobby Rush appears at the Lake Theater & Cafe on Monday, Oct. 31 at 7:00pm. Doors are at 6:00pm and tickets are still available as of this writing.
