Annie Bethancourt sings and plays on OMN LIve Sunday 5/17/20 at 6pm

By CARMEN KINTZ // Annie Bethancourt has been called “an angelic voice with a lot of talent on her lips and at her fingertips.” See her perform live Sunday, May 17 at 6pm on the next edition of OMN Live on the OMN Facebook page.

Annie Bethancourt is a writer and musician from Portland, Oregon who has been called “an angelic voice with a lot of talent on her lips and at her fingertips.” The daughter of one-time traveling folk musicians, Annie grew up memorizing all the lyrics to Paul Simon songs, singing little ditties into hand-held tape recorders, and playing the piano with her toothbrush.

You can see her perform a live set on the next edition of OMN Live, Sunday, May 17 at 6pm on the OMN Facebook page.

Since releasing her first album independently in 2003, Annie has performed all over the world with artists like Jewel, Sarah MacLachlan, Gregory Alan Isakov, Nicklecreek, and members of Wilco. Her confessional, story-driven songs cover a broad range of topics from faith to love to seasonal depression with a disarming mixture of hope, humor, and emotional honesty.

"Annie Bethancourt puts on a show that explains the difference between raw talent and deft technique. Or, rather, she inhabits both." ......-- Troy Johnson, Music Editor San Diego CityBeat

"a lucid mixture of Joni Mitchell and Fiona Apple that goes from hushed whispers, operatic heights, and then coal-walking wails, all within the same song."

 --Seth Combs

 "Gorgeous!"

--Alison Sudol of A Fine Frenzy
