By MATT HANSEN // Los Angeles electro-goth artist will team up with Die Sexual for a show that showcases LA's industrial goth elite at The Coffin
The name may sound like imagery from a Bosch painting, but the music of LA's Bestial Mouths paints an even darker picture than The Harrowing of Hell. Bestial Mouths 2023 album R.O.T.T. (inmyskin) was a stygian electro-industrial masterpiece that drew obvious comparisons to Diamanda Galas or Lydia Lunch. Although, Galas and Lunch were never as focused as Bestial Mouths (Lynette Cerezo), and Cerezo's influences may be far more obvious than that.
The track "The Knife" may be a conscious call out to the now defunct Swedish band, The Knife, who have a shared aesthetic of experimental electronics. "The Knife" was later remixed by Curses and Trace Amount on the remix companion album to R.O.T.T. (inmyskin) called BACKBONE, allowing some kindred artists to take her sound in bold new electro interpretations. Cerezo's voice is not only incredibly malleable in the hands of her peers, she also works well as collaborator on the 2025 single "Dead World Design" which she wrote with Comfort Cure.
Bestial Mouths will play The Coffin on January 30th with Die Sexual, another band highly name-checked in the goth-electronic scene of Los Angeles. Die Sexual's performance at Star Theatre last July had fans utterly embracing singer Rosselinni Floriano's sexually-charged lyrics and performance. Additionally, if you need any more description of Die Sexual live, look no further than how they affectionately label themselves as "Slut Wave."
And if you like your goth music with more of a post-punk approach, Portland's own Perimeters will open. Perimeters' most recent EP Set the Tripwire has all the driving basslines and cold wave synths a person nostalgic for the days of Joy Division could ever want. This show features three awesome female-fronted bands all under the big black umbrella of goth music, and a dance party by DJ Straylight to close out the night.
ON TOUR: Die Sexual / Bestial Mouths / Perimeters at The Coffin on Friday, Jan. 30th, 2026. Doors 8:00PM / Show 8:30PM / (Tickets) 21+
