Hailing from New Zealand, Wigmore released her first EP, Extended Play back in 2008 followed by her first full cd, Holy Smoke in 2009 which went multi-platinum in New Zealand and launched her into the spotlight. Her second full length album Gravel & Wine followed in 2011, also going multi-platinum in her home county. She is now on tour supporting her current release, Blood To Bone, and she sold out The Star Theater on her way through Portland last week.
Gin's voice has been described high and raspy, it is truly unique and a key ingredient in her sound. It is in the live setting her voice really shines; with her strong band backing her, Gin rocked the sold out show at the Star. She got things going strong with songs "Willing To Die" and "New Rush". "Kill of the Night" was a highlight and showed her sexy and fun side. New songs like "Written in the Water" and "24" showed the new album's diversity and were great to hear on stage. Gin Wigmore really is a treat to see live, she is refreshing, fun and she leaves you wanting more. The Portland crowd responded with their appreciation and love. When she finished her encores with "I Will Love You", she got emotional and showed how much it meant to her as well. Come back soon Gin!
