Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh has been diagnosed with bladder cancer, according to a message posted on the Facebook page for Terrapin Crossroads, the restaurant and venue he owns in San Rafael, Calif.

Lesh is currently undergoing treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Ariz., to eventually remove tumors and expects to make a full recovery.
“Thanks to my local doctor Cliff Sewell, and the incredible team at the Mayo Clinic, all is well and I can return to normal activities in two weeks from my surgery,” Lesh wrote in the Oct. 17 post.

Lesh also battled prostate cancer in 2006.
As a result of the recent diagnosis, the musician’s group Phil & Friends shows with Chris Robinson has canceled shows at Terrapin Crossroads scheduled for Oct. 24-25. The concerts will be rescheduled and ticket refund info will soon be made available, he added.
