Al Green: Before the Next Teardrop Falls

Al Green has released a new single, his first recording in nearly a decade. His cover of Freddy Fender's Before the Next Teardrop Falls was released today by Amazon Music as part of their original music series "Produced By".

"Produced By" teams top artists with some of the best producers in music. For the new release, Green paired up with Matt Ross-Spang (Jason Isbell and Margo Price) and recorded the track at Sam Phillips Studios in Memphis.

Fender hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart with the song in 1975. Green has previously recorded country songs such as For the Good Times and Funny How Time Slips Away, imprinting them with his unmistakable soulful sounds.
