Sisters Folk Festival Opening Night September 29, 2023

By BOB HOWARD // 24 artists, 7 venues rocking in Sisters on Opening Night!

Opening night is more that one person can cover. Fortunately, most artists play three sets throughout the weekend.

Three of the artists marking their first appearance at the festival were Siri Undlin, the songwriter behind the band Humbird. From Minneapolis/St Paul, Minnesota, Siri embodies the narrative folk song and balladry tradition in her music.

Daniel Rodriguez, from Denver, Colorado is a founding member of the band Elephant Revival. Daniel wrote and sang many of their well known songs, such as Birds and Stars and Sing to the Mountain and now tours solo with his band. Damn Tall Buildings is an roots/americana band from Brooklyn, NY. While their instrumentation is that of bluegrass, they are not bound to it. With lyrical storytelling and foot-stomping grooves, their songs about love and ramblin' help us forget our everyday troubles.

Daniel Rodriguez song Colorado has over 1.5 million streams on Spotify.

Damn Tall Buildings radiated the energy of busking on the street and brought the party to Sisters!
