Foo Fighters at the Moda Center on 9/10/18 Photos

It's a rare thing in the music world for a band to reach the level of success that Nirvana did. When their album, Nevermind was released, they completely changed the music scene, connected with so many people worldwide and would become a band that would have a lasting impression on our pop culture. With the tragic loss of Kurt Cobain, remaining members Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl's future became uncertain. In that dark time, Dave Grohl found his light in what would become the Foo Fighters.

Dave left his drumming role that he was so well known for and would now take on guitar and singing duties. It was a total departure from what he was known for, but he followed his heart and continued to make the music he wanted to. The Foo Fighter's foundation was laid and the band would go on to record nine albums and would become one of the world's most popular touring acts in its nearly 25 year existence. Dave Grohl is truly carrying the torch for rock n roll right now.

While some may say rock is dead, Dave Grohl is a shining example to make that statement completely untrue. His love and respect for music extends beyond his own career as well. Dave has showed a strong commitment and dedication in preserving how recorded music should sound with his involvement that can be seen in the Sound City documentary and now through his 606 Studios. Dave Grohl has become a real force in our music world on and off the stage.

The Foo Fighters had to postpone a few dates recently due to Dave's vocal troubles. He rebounded back, and the Foo Fighters were able to keep their Moda Center show here as planned. The show kicked off strong with “All My Life”. The Foo Fighters then blasted through numerous fan favorites including “Monkey Wrench” and “My Hero” to name a few but also made some time for some rocking covers. One cover really stood out. The piano part of John Lennon's “Imagine” began and then the Foo Fighters added their twisted mash up of singing the lyrics from Van Halen's “Jump” over the music. Other band mates like drummer, Taylor Hawkins sang lead on Queen’s “Under Pressure” while guitarist, Chris Shiflett sang lead on Alice Cooper’s “Under My Wheels”.

In the encore, the Foo Fighters would also pay tribute to Tom Petty and AC/DC, but would close out the night with their hit “Everlong”. It’s amazing its almost been 25 years for the Foo Fighters. Their fire and passion are still strong in this group. The Foo Fighters proved to Portland once again when you go see them live, you get your money’s worth.
