TajMo with two Oregon appearances this weekend

By SCOTT CUNNINGHAM // Duo of Taj Mahal and Keb' Mo' in Eugene on Friday, Portland Saturday.

Last year, Taj Mahal and Keb' Mo' teamed up to release "TajMo", their first-ever album as a duo. In case you missed it, the album picked up the Grammy this January for the Best Contemporary Blues Album.

The pair swing through the area this weekend with shows on Friday in Eugene at the Cuthbert Amphitheater and on Saturday at the Oregon Zoo in Portland. Tickets are still available for Eugene, but the zoo date has been sold out for quite some time.

I caught one of their shows last summer in Seattle and highly recommend seeing them if you can. Their iconic styles are a perfect complement to each other and the album itself is one of the best blues collaborations in a long, long time, on par with "Riding with the King" from B.B. King and Eric Clapton, which also won a Grammy back in 2000.

ON TOUR: TajMo perform on Friday, July 27th at the Cuthbert Amphitheater in Eugene and tickets are still available. Doors 5:30PM Show 7:00PM. On Saturday, July 28th the pair perform at the Oregon Zoo. Doors 5:00PM Show 7:00PM. Tickets for Portland are sold out.
