Corner and Alarm 58 at the Old Liberty Theater on 12/10/16

By BRENT ANGELO

In the true spirit of the holidays and giving, Portland’s own, Corner put together a special, holiday concert at The Old Liberty Theater in Ridgefield, Washington. Along with openers, Alarm 58 from Bend, both bands offered a wonderful holiday show. With an unwrapped toy or cash donation, you gained admittance for the show that benefited the KGW’s annual toy drive. The Old Liberty Theater for one served as a great venue for the concert. It is a hidden jewel in Washington that really needs to be utilized more for its concert intimacy and great sound. The coffee shop inside is pretty good too. The show brought in numerous toys, had various raffle items for those in attendance and at the night’s end brought in $450. At a time when there is a lot of negativity in our world, it was nice being brought together for such a good cause that really reflects the true spirit of the holidays. Corner is fronted by sisters, Crystal Lariza and Angela Lariza along with members, Michael Cook (bass), Max Cheswick (guitar) and Ray Maestas (drums). The heart of this band is the sisters combined voices and with their friends and bandmates, this group shines live and on record. Corner really is an original band worth considering. They showed that night not only to they make good original music, but they are also good people too.
