Electronic music, techno and this bedroom pop the kids are raving about these days would be nothing without Kraftwerk. The group, popular essentially their whole career from their 1970 self titled debut until now, are considered the pioneers and innovators of electronic music, using home made vocoders and other instruments to make that complicatedly simplistic sound.
From Joy Division to Gap Dream, Kraftwerks influence can be heard throughout many music genres over the years. Sans longtime member Florian Schneider, Kraftwerk will be coming to the Keller Auditorium as a foursome on the 19th. Since tickets are a pretty penny, look to their video, “The Robots,” to catch a glimpse of how weird yet influential the group was three decades ago.
