By RUBEN MOSQUEDA // Winner of microphone line of the year in 2016 shows their wares at NAMM in 2016
Audix the award winning microphone company based out of Wilsonville, OR showcased their highly acclaimed microphones at the 2016 NAMM Show; which took place from January 20th through January 24th, 2016 in Anaheim, CA at the Anaheim Convention Center.
Audix was established in 1984 with the goal(s) as VP of Sales and Co-Founder Cliff Castle says; “ To design, engineer, and manufacture high performing, and innovative products for musicians of all levels.” He goes on to say “Year after year our (Audix) microphones are recognized for their innovative design, high performance, excellent quality, their durability and the best value for the consumer. In 2015 we won microphone line of the year. Castle quickly points proudly to the banner with the MMR Award at the Audix booth.
Audix won ‘Microphone Line of The Year’ in 2015 from Musical Merchandise Review. MMR is highly respected and regarded industry magazine; so we can naturally see why Castle was so excited about the Audix receiving this award.
Audix continues to expand their line of mics and they also continue to expand their endorsees which range from singers ZZ Ward to Alanis Morissette, Ani Difranco to Willie Nelson to drummers like; Carmine Appice (Vanilla Fudge, Ozzy Osbourne, Rod Stewart) , Will Calhoun (Living Color) and Gregg Bissonette (David Lee Roth, Ringo Starr).
Currently the most popular mics are the Audix OM Series mics which are known for their superb clarity, durability and their low feedback particularly on a loud stage. The next up would be their D Series mics which are specifically dedicated to drums and percussion; the ‘drum people’ were raving about at NAMM 2016 was their D6 mic which is used on kick drums, floor toms and bass cabs. To say that this mic is bombastic would be a gross understatement. It’s a small world. We have a renowned mic company right in our backyard.
