It isn't officially the holiday season until Trans-Siberian Orchestra comes to town. Their holiday rock show fuses classical music and rock n' roll amazingly. They recently came to Portland playing at the Moda Center in support of their new cd, Letters From the Labyrinth. The 2015 tour would also feature a new stage production keeping in Trans-Siberian Orchestra's tradition of pushing their own envelopes.
When you sit in the crowd at their show, their show really takes you on a musical journey of sights and sounds. Video screens imagery make you feel like you are in a dream and their light show sets the bar high for other touring acts. Trans-Siberian Orchestra ties in its holiday story with a great setlist of songs. Some of Trans-Siberian Orchestra's staples like Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24) still give you chills. "Mad Russian's Christmas" really makes it feel like Christmas time. Songs from the new cd like the new song,"Forget About the Blame" were a real highlight live. (Sidenote, the new cd includes an awesome bonus track of Forget About the Blame with Halestorm's Lzzy Hale on vocals). This band is strong in music talent and as a nice touch included some local Portland musicians in its orchestra section. With the combination of their powerful songs and visually stunning stage show, they truly deliver a memorable holiday show.
This group also has a huge heart. A dollar from every ticket sold was donated to charity. With some of KGON's finest, the band gave a check to the Community Transitional School for $14,735.00. The holiday season is all about giving. Trans-Siberian Orchestra proved they give from the heart to those in need and always give their fans shows you will never forget. Trans-Siberian Orchestra truly are the Wizards In Winter.
