Aimee Mann is out with a new album titled "Mental Illness". I've always loved her vocals and on this album she absolutely shines. Her angelic voice provides a stark contrast to the lyrics, which the New York Times called an "exquisite wallow." The arrangements on the album are as good as any Mann has ever put together with cello, piano, and wonderful layers of guitar. Background vocals are perfectly placed, providing the perfect complement to Mann's soaring leads.

ON TOUR: Aimee Mann appears at the Oregon Zoo in Portland on Sunday, July 16. Doors are at 5:00PM with the show to follow at 7:00PM. Rhaiannon Giddens is also on the bill. As of this writing, tickets are still available. Grab them quick, though, because this one will sell out.
